Lincoln Marshall:
When most people think of the Midwest, generally the thoughts are of flat farm land that stretches to the horizon, and sunflowers that grow as tall as children. In the midst of what gets overlooked by outsiders, The Kansas hip hop duo of Lincoln Marshall serves as a true definition of the melting pot of sounds and culture that is their home. Comprised of two veteran and individually accomplished Emcees in Approach and MilkDrop, Lincoln Marshall, has generated a following from creating a pallet of sounds that are both freely structured and uncompromisingly splashed with a high level of energy. Fusing funk, soul, and boom bap all together to make songs that breathe life into the diluted stream of what hip hop has become in portions, Lincoln Marshall can be categorized as an experience. Off the strength of their 2015 release, Weight, the newly united team has played over 50 shows throughout the region. Selected to open for the likes of: Talib Kweli, and Slum Village amongst other great acts, Lincoln’s live show has served as a catalyst to their rapidly growing fan base. With their second release soon on the way they are hitting an unparalleled stride.
